Love.

What's Love really about?
From an online dictionary,

The world "love" comes to us from the Middle English word luf, derived from the Old English word "lufu." This is akin to Old High German, "luba," and another Old English word, lēof, which means ‘dear’. Yet another word related to love, "lubere" or "libere," comes to us from the Romans. This Latin word means 'to please'. In all words related to the word love, roots relating to dear, pleasing, and cherished may be found, hinting at the deeper transcendent meaning of the modern word.

Most people think of the definition of love as a strong romantic attachment between two people, often intermingled with sexual desire and attraction. Throughout history, people defined love more broadly, encompassing many relationships. These forms of love and affection hold true today, although may not be the first definition that comes to mind when one hears the word. For example:

  • Love among family members; familial love, or love based on kinship ties
  • A mother’s love for her offspring
  • Love of neighbor, based on the Christian teaching of expressing concern and charity for all people
  • Love of country, or patriotism
  • Love of God, or expressive love for a deity or deities

Nearly all religions and cultures use precise language to define love. Most languages use various words to express levels of emotion, kinship, or affection. Ancient Greek, for example, uses many words to define precise levels of emotion. “Agape” means love in modern day Greek, but in ancient times referred to a pure love without sexual connotations. “Eros” includes passionate love full of desire and longing. “Philia”, mentioned by Aristotle, meant a dispassionate, virtuous and unselfish love. “Xenia” includes hospitality, and refers to a type of love most would consider charity or giving.

Our modern language uses the word love almost too frequently. We say “I love you” to our spouses, but say “I love chocolate ice cream!” to a friend to express a much less intense feeling.

Some people define love not by a feeling, but by actions. In this definition, love isn’t what you say – it’s what you do. Love would then be a verb, expressed in unselfish actions and deeds.

If you guys watched transformers, the main guy never said i "LOVE" you to the girl. To him its a taboo word. He only said it towards the end of the movie. LOL

This time, its about love. Yes, "love"

The word love is used many many time in the bible. Yes, God is love.

Love is indeed something very powerful and something very precious to keep.
Once you really get a hold of this love, you should really keep a hold of it and never let go.

"It only takes only second to meet someone, a minute to appreciate them, an hour to get to know them, a day to love them, but an entire lifetime to forget them."

Okay, so it's true that we only takes a second to meet someone.

Everywhere we go, we can just meet with different kinds of people. Left and right, in front or behind. There will be people around us. Unless of course we just hide ourselves in a quarantined room because of H1N1 sickness. Even when we are driving, there will be cars beside us, and for sure there will be a driver there right? Unless, you are driving like 3 or 4 am in the morning after your clubbing sessions with your friends or yamcha session.

It is also true that we only takes a minute to actually appreciate them. Some of us just flows with each other. Anything that we talk to each other, we just click. Any topics, any kind of stories, we can just relate to each other. In short, we just can talk.

An hour is also quite enough to get to know them. We can know someone quite a lot just by chatting with them for an hour. We can get to know their background, where they came from, what they do, what do they like, what foods and drinks they like, their hobbies, and so on. A lot of stuffs can be talked with within an hour. So yeah, it's quite true also.

A day to love to love them? yes, this can be true at times. There certainly won't be love at first sight. Maybe you can just admire their beauty at first sight, but you can never love someone at first sight. A day with them is all you need to actually fall in love with someone. Although this may just be a feeling, it doesn't mean you have to confess after just one day with that certain person.

And finally, an entire lifetime to forget. Yes, once we love that certain person with all our hearts, it is certainly very hard to forget them. Maybe never. Yes, people can change, but for us to change our bad habits are also quite hard. What more to change who we love.

To summarize everything, Love is a risk. You have to make decisions and you need to be patient.

Here is one of my favorite quotes from a movie

"Love is always patient and kind. It is never jealous. Love is never boastful or conceited. It is never rude or selfish. It does not take offense and is not resentful." A Walk To Remember (2002)

It is actually taken from the Bible from 1st Corinthians 13:4-7
Here is the New Living Translation Version

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (New Living Translation)

4 Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud 5 or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. 6 It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. 7 Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

Yes, when we love someone, we should really be patient. Patience is the most important thing in a relationship. Without patience, nothing is going to work out. Sometimes, we just have to wait to get what we want. And yes, that requires lots and lots of patience. You can't expect instant results like how you can cook instant maggi or make instant 3-IN-1 coffee or so. Great relationship needs time and patience. May it be 2 years, 3 years, or who knows, it could be a lifetime. But that's relationship for you. There's one thing in common in all relationships. It all requires time and patience. No relationship between two person can flourish in an instant. It requires a lots of time together and friendship moments together for it to even be friends.

Guys

Okay, here are some facts about guys and girls alike.

1. Few things about guys

  • When a girl treat the guy very nice and kind, to the guys it is like a hint to them. When this happens, the guy will think "This girl very nice, i have hope!"
  • Guys will take the slightest of hints as BIG hints, while to the girl it is actually nothing.
  • There will be some guys who will do whatever it takes to get that girl's heart. No matter what, the guy will try do everything he can to get that girl's attention. Even if it requires sacrifice, the guy will do it.
  • Some guys are very direct while some are quite indirect in their approach
  • Guy are somewhat prone to rejections and some are also not quite in control of their emotions yet.
  • All guys have an ego but not all have the same level of egoism so yeah
  • Usually when a guy know that a few other guys are also chasing the same girl as they are, they will feel a little bit threaten but usually doesn't really shows it out because of their ego
To be continued.....
