The Parable of the Talents
14 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 1617 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord’s money. 19 After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them.

20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ 21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ 23 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’

26 “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.

29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

"

In summary, this is the story about God giving talents to 3 different guys. He gave the 1st guy 5 talents, the 2nd guy with 2 talents and the last guy with only 1 talent.

The first and the second guy invested their talents and got a double return. And both had 10 talents and also 4 talents respectively. While the last guy hid his talent in the ground because he was scared that others would steal his talent since that is all he have.

Verse 24-25 says

"

24 “Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’

"

The last guy was very scared and kept his talent in a safe place. But even though his talent was safe, it was all he has and in the end he didn't take time and effort to multiply his talent. In the end, he ended up with what he had started with. With just 1 talent.

The other two guys on the other hand, made investments with their talents and yes, they took risk to invest with their talents, but with the risk, they got rewards and double of what they had before.

God gave each and everyone of us talents, and He wants us to multiply it. He doesn't want us just to keep and hide our talents away in our safe or in our head. He doesn't want us just to hide behind everyone. Some of us have incredible talent, and some of us can go very very far with the talent that they have. Some of us can also multiply our talents to great lenghts one cannot imagine of. It doesn't hurt to dream far. God wants us to start with a dream and go for it.

See how far has Jabbawockeez has gone with their talents
They not only go far, but they have incredible character which keeps them there.

I once had a dream of performing on the big stage in front of thousands and thousands of people. In any kind of form, from acting, drama productions, dancing, just anything. The first time i went on stage was for a leading role in a drama team in my secondery school. I enjoyed the role so much that somehow, even though nervous as crazy, i enjoyed myself on stage. I began to love acting. And then i was brought into the school drama team to compete against other schools. Then when i came to KL, i didn't know where this dream would go to or how far can it go.

I'm taking graphics design as my major in degree but its not totally my passion. What i dream of is performing arts. Just be on stage to perform my hearts out. And this year, i got involved into dancing. I just have to thank God for everything, for all the talents He had given me and i managed to multiply them. Now me and my other dancers are invited to perform just everywhere. I'm totally honoured to be invited. I'm flattered the first time we were invited.

But still, with all this talent at hand, we can still be in trouble if we are not careful and remember who we are and who we are doing this for.

With all the talent, you can do big things,
but if you do not have the character to go with it,
how do you even expect to stay up there with the top

Remember!
Your talents can bring you up there with the greats!
But only character can keep you up there!

All in all
All glory goes to Him

Praise God for everything He has done for me and my fellow dancers
For the creativity that He has blessed us with.
With the talents that He has given us.
And we will use it to bless others
And to be relevant to the world
Dance! Sing! Act! Perform!
Cultural Mandate!
